Chronology of Events

1954

  • Inventory checking of collections in the Joint Managerial Office was completed. The Palace Museum, the Preparatory Office of the Central Museum and the Central Library collaborated to publish "A Collection of Chinese Art".

1955

  • The National Central Library was reinstated, and it was removed from the Joint Managerial Office. The Joint Managerial Office of the National Palace Museum and the Preparatory Office of the National Central Museum continued to release publications, including "Collection of Chinese Fine Art" (1955), "National Palace Museum Painting and Calligraphy Catalogue" (1956), "Catalogue of Bronze Vessels in the National Palace Museum" (1958), "Three Hundred Masterpieces of Chinese Painting in the Palace Museum" (1959) and "Catalogue of the Porcelain Collection of the National Palace Museum" (1961).

1957

  • The exhibition gallery in Beigou was officially opened.

1961

  • The Joint Managerial Office sent a selection of fine works of art to the United States for exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Art Institute in Chicago and the de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco.
