Chronology of Events

1925

  • With the expulsion of Puyi from the Forbidden City in the previous year, the government formed the Committee for the Disposition of Qing's Imperial Possessions and took a comprehensive inventory check of the articles in the Imperial Palace. On the 10th of October, the Palace Museum was inaugurated, and public exhibitions were launched.

1928

  • China was united after the victory of the Northern Expedition, and the Nationalist Government regained control of the Palace Museum. Yi Pei-Ji was appointed Director of the Museum in the following year.
