Academic Research
Deputy Director Ho has engaged in the studies of Chinese paintings history as well as calligraphy history. His recent studies on calligraphy history included calligraphy of the early Northern Song Dynasty, Suzhou literati's calligraphy in the Ming Dynasty, and calligraphy of the late Qing Dynasty.

As for calligraphy verifications and research, Director Ho had studied the Ting-wu Rubbing of the Lan-t'ing, the NPM's collection of the autobiography of Huai Su and related subjects, Chao Meng-fu's Seven Letters, Huang Tingjian's Letter to Commissioner Ching-tao with Poems, Huang Tingjian's Scent of Flowers Wafting, Huang Tingjian's Poetry of Han-shan and Recluse P'ang, Su Shi's Eloquent Monk Poem, Su Shi's Former Ode on the Red Cliff and the Cold Food Observance, Huai Su's autobiography, , calligraphy theory of Sun Kuoting, masterpieces of Jin and Tang Dynasty calligraphy, Shen Zhou's fallen flower poems, and Chao Mengfu's 'Xitieyuanliukao' (Regular Script) .

As for calligraphy studies, Deputy Director Ho had studied the Yuan Dynasty Colophon Culture, Qianlong's appreciation of ancient calligraphy, Wang Shu Jishuyan Letters and the studies on these letters, as well as the study of epigraphic calligraphy of the mid-late Qing Dynasty.

As for the studies of painting history, Deputy Director Ho had studied the archaic paintings between the sixteenth and eighteenth-century, the history between Giuseppe Castiglione and Chinese paintings.

Painting and calligraphy-based comprehensive studies including the history of National Palace Museum's painting and calligraphy collection, emperors and painting and calligraphy connoisseurship, and imperial court arts.
