Changes to the Fridays, and Saturdays NPM Main Building Closing Hours and Clarifications on New Supportive Procedures

In order to continue promoting the long-term development of national tourism, and to alleviate the growing number of visitors while taking into consideration the local residents’ schedule flexibility on weekends, the NPM has proposed the following changes effective Friday, October 19, 2012.Changes to the NPM Main Building new supportive procedures are listed below

1. The closing hours for Friday and Saturday is extend to 9:00 p.m. By presenting the ROC ID, Taiwanese Citizens may visit the exhibitions free-of-charge between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. during the Friday and Saturday nights extension hours.

2. Foreign tourists must purchase museum admissions at all times except on the following dates: January 1 (New Year’s Day), Lantern Festival Day, May 18 (International Museum Day), September 27 (World Tourism Day), and October 10 (National Day).

3.Listed below are the new hours of operation for the NPM Main Building:
     Hours of operation Special Notes
Sundays to Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.      
Fridays to Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 1. By presenting the ROC ID, Taiwanese Citizens may visit the exhibitions free-of-charge between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
2. For local resident groups of 10 and over visiting the Museum during the extension hours, they are required by the Museum to use the Group Audio Touring System. A charge of $20 is applicable to system.
3.Tickets can be purchased until 20:30 for extended visiting hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

4. Should there be any changes to the opening hours of the Museum Main Building galleries, please refer to the Museum online bulletin board.
