The word "jade" has always brought forth a sense of mystical feeling for the majority of the Chinese population. In the long history of China, despite its constant evolution, in the Grand Ceremonies where the crowned is given the mandate "the son of heaven" (such as in the Feng Chan and Jiao Si Ceremonies), jadeware had always been the number one choice of selection in communicating to the divine beings from above. The chapters in this book describe the history of the NPM, its featured collections, while focusing mainly on uncovering the jadeware culture during the Neolithic Age.
