In 1947, Liao Chi-chun moved with his family to Taipei. He taught at a university fine arts department and also worked ceaselessly on his paintings. During this period, the focus of his sketching also gravitated to the scenery of northern Taiwan. Tamsui and Mt. Kuan-yin (on the shore opposite Tamsui) seem to have become his favorite scenery. Perhaps it was also because he was familiar with the area; he taught part-time at Tamsui's Ch'un-te Girls' High School (a division of Tamkang High School that later merged). Up until not long before he passed away, Liao did many works on this subject.
