This square seal in Phagspa script has a trapezoidal knob. The face of
the seal is carved in three rows of Phagspa seal script with the name of an official
title, indicating it belonged to a commanding officer of the Yuan imperial armies. The top
is carved in Chinese with the corresponding official title in regular script as well as
the bureau that manufactured it (Ministry of Rites) and the date, which corresponds to
1287 and thus puts it during the reign of the Mongol ruler Kublai Khan in the Yuan dynasty
of China.
