Introduction: Chen Chi-kwan, whose work ranges across the fields of both fine arts and architecture, possessed outstanding training in architecture as well as a life-long passion for fine arts. He was a prolific artist who introduced his own concepts of architectural space into his paintings, and achieved an astonishing fusion between western architectural drawings and traditional Chinese ink paintings. His works can be characterized as "modernization of ink painting". In "Chen Chi-kwan's 90th Anniversary Exhibition", the National Palace Museum proposes to invite a number of expert scholars and specialists knowledgeable about the art and architecture of Chen Chi-kwan to help expand the horizons of visitors by sharing their knowledge about Master Chen's life, creative ideals, and meaning of his works. |
