This book represents the largest and most
complete encyclopedia that survives from imperial China. Containing 10,000 chapters, it
includes two on the phoenix and five on the dragon. At the beginning of each section are
illustrations of phoenixes and dragons, followed by detailed descriptions, accounts, and
references to them in previously written texts and poems. |
