Treasures of the World's Cultures: The British Museum after 250 Years

Exhibit Introduction:
The British Museum has a collection of more than 7,000,000 objects that span nearly the complete breadth of humanity from remote prehistory up to the modern times. For the first time ever, the National Palace Museum in Taipei and the British Museum have cooperated to bring an exhibit of 271 selected masterpieces from the latter to Taiwan for exhibit from February to May of 2007. Now people in Taiwan need not travel all the way to England to see these works and can study these treasures from the British Museum up close.
To further enhance the understanding of people in Taiwan for world cultures and to offer a better comprehend the contents of this special exhibit, the NPM has scheduled a series of talks on topics related to the exhibit from mid-November to late December of 2006. Researchers from the National Palace Museum and the History and Philology Institute of Academia Sinica as well as professors from the departments of history and art history at National Taiwan University, National Cheng Chih University, and Fu Jen Catholic University have been invited to give lectures. For those in Taiwan who are interested in exploring the history and cultures of the world, this is a rare opportunity for the public.
