Q:How do I obtain the artifact metadata image files available on the Open Data platform?

A:The datasets provided by the NPM for download on the Open Data platform are a metadata of artifacts; they are also descriptive artifact information. For users who are interested in obtaining some or all of the artifact images in the metadata datasets, they may use the artifact unicode or artifact title from the datasets and enter them in the “Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Catalogue” on the Digital Taiwan Culture and Nature website to find the desired images. They may then “save” these images for subsequent use. Users will not be required to file an application in order to use these images, but they will need to comply with the NPM Open Data Terms of Use. For detailed information, please refer to the “Terms of Use” section in our section page.

Q: Will the NPM increase the amount of data on the Open Data platform in the future?

A: In the future, the NPM will continue to increase the number of datasets available for download on the Open Data platform on a non-periodic basis.

Q:Will the NPM consider putting the images from the datasets of the Open Data platform in a collection and placing them on the Open Data platform?

A:Yes, we will. Because of the substantial memory space involved to release the 800 to 1,000 artifact images listed above, the amount of time for download will inevitably increase. To temporarily resolve this issue, the NPM has opted the use of the “Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Catalogue” on the Digital Taiwan Culture and Nature website where users may be able to obtain the artifact images by saving them on their computer. In the future, images that are frequently used will be compressed or reduced in number and put in a collection to allow users to download them on the Open Data platform.

Q:What is the program used by the NPM for the current datasets?

A: The program used by the NPM for the current datasets primarily comprises xml. They are also equipped with a RAR program that decodes independently to allow users for download. In terms of the texts, Unicode is used.
