Introduction

Instated in 1965 at its current location Waishuangxi, Taipei, the National Palace Museum (NPM) houses over seven hundred thousand national treasures. Following technological advancement, in recent years, the NPM has produced many creative new media art exhibitions inspired from its imperial collection and developed innovative visuals, reproductions, and designs to bring artifacts closer to the public. Traditionally untouchable and austere, artifacts in NPM's collection are now rendered approachable. Through showcasing NPM-produced films, models, and installations, NPM in Taiwan-Innovating Art with Technology Special Exhibition tells the story of how NPM's innovative applications play a part in educational outreach efforts across Taiwan and all over the world . The new media exhibition mode certainly offers more flexibility than traditional, glass-case exhibitions but is by no means lesser in style and quality. Expect to experience what you have never experienced before.
