Introduction
Calligraphy masterpieces are one of highly treasured relics in the National Palace Museum (NPM). Similar to other NPM relics, the majority were inherited from ancient palace collections, with some donated and purchased from the public over the past few decades. A series of reprints have been made on the aforementioned set of NPM's Calligraphy Masterpieces, and images have gradually distorted over time. Moreover, current academic researches have brought forth newer ideas and interpretations on the original text. Therefore, NPM's Calligraphy Masterpieces have been republished, using past approach from the original text as basis for selection and classification, and adding colors to all illustrations within the book. Treasured scrolls of calligraphy by masters from the different eras are compiled and published on a yearly basis. All the essence of NPM's calligraphy collection is included here, almost to entirety, for all the calligraphy aficionados to examine and appreciate.
