The National Palace Museum Research Quarterly Submission Guidelines

I. General

(A) The National Palace Museum Research Quarterly is a scholarly journal published by the National Palace Museum. Originally commencing publication in July 1966 as the National Palace Museum Quarterly, the present title was adopted in September 1983.

(B) Open to all, the Quarterly accepts submissions from both local and overseas scholars. Issued every quarter of the year in March, June, September, and December, the Quarterly welcomes previously unpublished academic papers on various subjects related to art, the art history of rare books and historical documents, history, archaeology, and technology.

II. Information for Authors

(A) Please submit the articles in both electronic file format (Microsoft Word) and on paper (two copies), either in Chinese (approximately 30,000 characters) or English (20 pages). A title and a one-page abstract of no more than 300 words, with a list of no more than seven keywords, in both Chinese and English, are also required. Please include author’s real name, the name of the organization where the author works, the author’s job title/position, and contact information (address, telephone number, or email address)

(B) Obtaining permission to use third party copyright material, such as citations, illustrations, and/or charts is the responsibility of the authors. The Quarterly takes no responsibility for infringements on intellectual property and other related laws. All images of objects of the Museum must be credited as follows: "Collection of the National Palace Museum".

(C) The Quarterly only accepts submissions that have not been previously published formally in any manner (those posted on the internet are considered published). Please do not submit to multiple publishers.

III. Review Process

(A) All submissions are subject to form review by the editorial board, and those that pass are then sent to two independent experts and scholars for content review. Once these anonymous reviews are complete, the editorial board will discuss whether to publish the papers or not.

(B) All submissions are reviewed under dual anonymity (authors and reviewers). Please avoid in the article any information that might disclose the identity of the author.

IV. The Rights of the Editors

(A) The Quarterly's editors have the right to make adjustments to the submitted articles approved by the editorial board for publication, as to conform to the Quarterly's format in style, layout, and plate captions.

(B) Authors will be informed within two weeks of the editorial board’s decisions, if the submissions are not approved for publication.

V. The Rights of the Authors

(A) All accepted submissions are published without royalties and pay. The authors will receive two copies of the issue of the Quarterly in which their articles are published, and 30 offprints.

(B) The Moral rights of the articles published in the Quarterly belong to the authors, while the intellectual rights belong to the National Palace Museum. All reprints, reproductions, and/or translations are subject to the consent of the Quarterly.

VI. Article Authorization

The authors of the approved submissions agree to authorize the Quarterly to publish the articles and to grant the Quarterly “free and non-exclusive rights” to further authorize authorized database operators to reproduce the material for online viewing, printing, and download by authorized users.
