The National Palace Museum and City University of Hong Kong Win the Gold MUSE Award!

2019-05-24

ANiMAL─Art, Science, Nature, Society, a new media and art exhibition co-curated by the National Palace Museum (NPM) and City University of Hong Kong by combining art and technology together, won the Gold MUSE Award presented by the American Alliance of Museums, showcasing Taiwan’s soft power on the international stage once again.

The MUSE Awards are awards used to acknowledge galleries, libraries, archives, and museums for their outstanding media achievements and to encourage them to contribute to the subjects of community, innovation, education, accessibility, and inclusiveness. ANiMAL─Art, Science, Nature, Society, the winner of this year's MUSE Awards, was held in the CityU Exhibition Gallery in Hong Kong and later in the Taichung City Seaport Art Center in Taiwan. The exhibition introduced local elements and issues, joining the NPM and contemporary elements together.

ANiMAL─Art, Science, Nature, Society united NPM artifacts, new media technology, contemporary art, and biological science and research together to examine animal issues from different perspectives, showing visitors ancient and modern culture as well as urging them to think about the conflicts between science and nature. The visitors are educated about how people from different eras viewed the world and reminded to face and solve environmental and moral problems created by the development of science and technology.

The NPM indicated that it hoped to adopt diversified curatorial thinking and use digital technology to connect NPM artifacts and contemporary life experiences together in order to promote sustainable ecological development and fulfill its social responsibilities as a museum.
